Resolve AJAX based form validation issues

It seems that we have a timing issue with out forms. The problem is that our remote validations are being fired around the same time that we are trying to submit our form. I've tried to get to the bottom of this for the past day and can not think of a quick fix for the moment

The issue seems to be that when in selenium mode our remote validations are sent using XML for some weird reason. I have tinkered with this a little and nothing that comes to mind works.
I'll refactor out for based acceptance tests for now, as it is only new forms which use remote validation at the moment but this is certainly something that needs to be resolved soon.
